COMET P/2020 K9 (Lemmon-PANSTARRS)
This object was initially reported by the Mount Lemmon Survey (G96) on
May 22 UT as part of their incidental astrometry. It was independently reported
on May 26 by Pan-STARRS 1 (F51) as an NEO candidate. On June 16, G. V. Williams
communicated that he was able to link the G96 and F51 tracklets, along with
that of an object submitted by ATLAS (T05) on May 29 also as an NEO candidate.
None of the tracklets met the minimum requirements to appear on the NEOCP, but
Williams was able to compute a possible comet-like orbit and the object was then
listed on the PCCP. In a set of 12-stacked 60 second images taken on June 16
from iTelescope (Q62), H. Sato noted the object was strongly condensed with an
asymmetrical coma. R. Weryk examined images taken by the Canada-France-Hawaii
Telescope (568) on June 17, and reported that the object was clearly cometary
in appearance with a FWHM of 1".83 +/- 0".02 versus that of neighboring stars
(0".93 +/- 0".04).
